My 3rd Week Summary

By Captains news

On Sunday after the OM in West Cliffs I handed out the new prizes.
Since COVID left us with a big pile of beer glasses/ tankers still to be distributed. I have taken the opportunity to combine these with something special and practical. We take you further into the Dutch kitchen and you can display some of your cooking or cold cuts on a “cheese board”, the more guest you invite the more people will recognize your new prize and are of course delighted to hear your winning story to go with it. Winner of my first “cheeseboard” was Martin Playell with 39 points in West Cliffs.

Enjoy all this week’s competitions, Monday, Wednesday and Friday and in the weekend we have on Sunday the 1st OM at PDR.

My 2ª Week Summary

By Captains news

The first roll up of our Road to Praia D’El Rey was a win for Antonio Carvalhão, which gave him 35 points and put him on the top of the leaderboard. In the meantime the second qualifying Roll up has been played and the weekly ranking update is available. Just go to captains’ news in the members section on the website https://clubedegolfe.praia-del-rey.com/members/#captainsnews. If you click on the text, you can read my blog and scroll down till you see, “click here to check the leaderboard”. We are also trying to get a leaderboard set up in the clubhouse soon.

Friday Fun was attended by 40 players. It feels like we are getting slowly back to normal. Saturday’s Pairs at West Cliffs was a warm sunny and for all wind free day.

Winners were Jan Willem de Ridder and your captain, followed by Marilyn and Peter Brownlow. Sunday was the interclub match at Campo Real where PDR won a tight match against Guardian Bom Sucesso.

The rest of the week is full of the normal competitions, and on Saturday 28th there is the first OM at West Cliffs. This year both Order of Merit (separate competition at West Cliffs and one at PDR) will be decided by the 6 best scores out of 10.

My Week Summary

By Captains news

My first week as your captain has already passed. What happened in my first week. Of course, the normal routines continued with the Monday’s, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 8 team golfers showed some dedication after the Club Championship and 28 contenders joined the last roll up without the point system of the road to Praia D’El Rey. The 35 Friday fun golfers enjoyed the maiden prize giving by Paul Spivey who was very kind to take my role in the Friday Fun committee.
Although Europe was grappling with a heatwave the 50 contenders of the pairs on Saturday were treated with the usual summer fog and respective temperatures. The match was thrillingly close with the top 10 within 2 strokes! Gabrio Bianchetti and Joe Boia edged through in the end.
On the 18th of August the first qualifying Roll Up for the Road to Praia D’El Rey was played.

The top 10 members are ranked on the first leaderboard, which will be updated after every Roll Up.

Friday Fun is waiting for you to enjoy and on Saturday 21 August a Pairs at West Cliffs is scheduled.

Enjoy your golf and play well this week,
